If you’re one of the many companies with metal-halides in your facility, you’re not alone. In fact, back in the 1960’s when they were introduced, metal-halides were the energy efficient solution, and could be found in almost every city in the world.
The most common uses for metal-halide fixtures include commercial, industrial, sports arenas, factories, outdoor roadway and parking areas, and retail stores.
Times have changed… thank goodness!
I won’t go into the technical rationale for swapping out your metal-halides (MH’s) to install LED’s, a quick Google search will get you more than you’d imagine if you really need the facts. But what I will do is give you the top 5 reasons my clients identified as their motivation to make the move,
- Expensive to maintain: MH’s only last 6,000 to 15,000 hours
- Expensive to operate: They consume way too much (455W) energy VS LED’s
- Slow to start, taking 15-20 minutes to warm up
- Quick to lose high output (lumens) and colour quality (lamp degradation)
- Not compatible with controls such as occupancy sensors and dimming (below 50%)
Plus, thanks to the currently available incentives offered through Ontario’s Save-On-Energy program, each metal-halide qualifies for a $110.00 incentive when replaced with a qualified LED fixture. This is something you want to take advantage of while the getting’s good!
If you’d like to get excited about your hydro savings opportunity, together with incentives available for retrofitting your MH’s to LED’s, I have created the easiest and fastest solution.
Download our 60-Seconds to Savings & Incentives Calculator. That’s right, in less than one minute you can discover your hydro savings and government incentives.
